A night of relief for Mancini: For now, atleast!

Roberto Mancini might have slept restfully after beating Manchester United at the Theater of Dreams on Monday night. For now, atleast the job looks safe but for how long? There is not much time to go till he has to take his team to a semi-final at Wembley to face Chelsea FC. What does the future hold for Mancini and his tenure at Manchester City? Let us see what are the positives of keeping Mancini, and the possibilities after removing Mancini.

He has guided his team to victories over all the top 4 sides now, second place looks comfortably secured and it seems like a decent enough season for City. But It is? What Roman Abramovich wants is clearly known to the world, but what does Sheikh Al-Mansour wants is still unknown and unclear. They have never come out and spoken about any footballing philosophy, their ambitions in the Champions League, their goals for the season, etc. and that makes it real hard for non-city fans to understand what that club is all about. And that also puts in dark the future of the City manager. Reports earlier suggested that if City were to lose at Old Trafford, he will be removed off the hot-seat, now the attention has diverted to the semi final clash with Chelsea. Is Mancini going to be a citizen next season or will he be replaced by some bigger fish in the pond, only time can tell! Only the silent Sheikhs can answer this question.

Keeping Mancini

He is competent, there is no doubt about it, but now the experience of not retaining the premier league title will make him an even better tactician, make him even more careful with his transfer decisions, a lot more analytical when he is selecting a formation, this will surely make him realize that nothing is guaranteed in the premiership, or in football for that matter, and each of the 38 games in a season provide a completely different test to the other. He will be a better manager next season so why not keeping him in there, also considering that he now knows that squad inside out, he has known the premier league and just like Ferguson this season, a sense of vengeance will be burning inside that head.

Removing Mancini

There are a lot of reasons here starting from his abysmal defense of the premiership title, to the poor man management skills he has displayed throughout the season, the unwanted, stupid, and non-professional quotes he has made over the course of the season and the way he has tinkered with the team throughout. Overall, he looked a rattled man in front of the media, an even more rattled man when training with Balotelli, and to top it off his transfer activity this season has made him look like an idiot. Apologies to the City fans.

But like I said, he must have learned from this season, on how to properly retain or fight for the title. So, maybe he is going to come back even more stronger next time around, or may be he is going to be even more poor than he was this season as far as the off-field aspects of the game are concerned.
