Thibault Courtois wants One More Season At "Atlético Madrid"



Blues bought young Belgian keeper in June 2011 but he never played for them and would rather stay in Spain than watch Cech having all the fun at Stamford Bridge. After snapping him up from Genk as a little- known teenager 18 months ago, Chelsea have been presented sent him on-loan to Ath.Madrid. 

Courtois’ swift maturity into a sect shape at Athletic. According to Spanish newspaper AS are reporting that the Chelsea and Ath.Madrid have agreed an extension, which means the Belgian Young talent is set to stay at the Vicente Calderon until June 2014. The contract will be signed in the forthcoming days. Chelsea were rumored to be planning on sending out Courtois on loan to a Premier League club but they have now decided the player would benefit from experiencing Champions League football and Ath Madrid is right now 3rd in LaLiga.
Thibaut Courtois has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona in recent months but Chelsea is reportedly keen to hang onto the player. He made a new club record on Sunday by going 820 minutes without giving way a goal. Atletico manager Diego was reportedly anxious to ensure the club retains Courtois’ for one more year.
Chelsea, in all probability, will allow him to play in Madrid. As Petr Cech, who is the No.1 at Stamford Bridge, will retain his position for at least two more seasons. If Chelsea calls back Courtois it might slow down his improvement and maturity. The English club is likely to extend his loan at Atletico for one more season.
Courtois, who is 6ft 6in tall, made his debut for the Belgian national side in November 2011 against France, becoming the youngest ever goalkeeper to play for Belgium. Thibaut Courtois to Chelsea was completed in July 2011. It was then agreed he would be loaned to Atletico Madrid for the 2011/12 season, where he enjoyed an impressive campaign, making 52 appearances and collecting a Europe League winners' medal after helping his side to a 3-0 victory in the Final against Athletic Bilbao. The loan has been extended for a further 12 months to cover the 2012/13 season. At his previous club, Racing Genk, he was part of the team that won the 2010/11 Belgian League, the club's first championship in nine years. It was the young keeper's first season as a regular. The year before the club had finished 11th.
THIBAUT COURTOIS contribution earned him the accolades of Belgian Goalkeeper of the Year and Genk's Player of the Year. The team conceded 32 goals over the course of 40 league matches.
