Terim: Fans can help Galatasaray against Real Madrid

Fatih Terim hopes Galatasaray AŞ be given "great support" for the visit of Group B favourites Real Madrid CF, who have confirmed that Iker Casillas will play for the first time this season.

Galatasaray AŞ manager Fatih Terim called on the home fans to roar his team to a similar victory to the one they achieved against Real Madrid CF in previous season's UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg as the sides are matched yet again in Group B.

Terim's men beat Real Madrid 3-2 in April, not sufficient to overturn a 3-0 deficit but enough to raise hopes ahead of Tuesday. The Merengues lost their 100% Liga record at the weekend in an eventful draw with Villarreal CF, but while Diego López gave a man-of-the-match performance at El Madrigal, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed Iker Casillas will don the gloves in Istanbul for the first time at club level this term.

Fatih Terim, coach
Real Madrid are favourites to progress from this group but if we can get to double figures in terms of points, our probability of reaching the round of 16 will be a lot better. Previous season we only managed one point from our first three games but then won our next three to end up on ten, which took us through. If we forget all mathematical calculations, then we just have to play our best every game.

In spite of losing to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals last season, we played very well in the second leg. This is not a knockout game this time. If we lose, nobody can say Galatasaray will fail to qualify for the next round because we'll have five games other after that. But if we win, we'll have a good advantage.
Real Madrid have bought a lot of key players this season with high price tags like Gareth Bale's. And they already have superstars such as Cristiano Ronaldo who is one of the best players in the world with [Lionel] Messi. They already have [Ángel] Di María, [Sergio] Ramos, [Karim] Benzema...
But we want to accomplish success at home, everyone knows the atmosphere our fans can create. We can stand up against any team any time. Playing from the heart is very important at this stage. We need great support from our fans, even if our players make a mistake. If our fans give unconditional support, it will shape our team positively and my players will play better for that.

                                            Team news
Selçuk İnan is predictable to shake off an ankle injury picked up on international duty. Hamit Altıntop is out with a groin trouble while Semih Kaya faces a fitness test on his right leg. Terim says Bruma is not yet ready to play 90 minutes.

                                            Real Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti, coach
Gareth Bale can play in every position. I will play him in a position to which he is mainly suited and therefore is better for him. Casillas and Diego López are both very excellent goalkeepers, the rivalry between them makes them improve. I prefer Casillas in UEFA Champions League games because he is more experienced. Diego López will play in the Liga this season. I expect Casillas will give a good performance tomorrow.
Competition between players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Bale or Casillas and Diego López is not a problem for us. Real Madrid are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are very familiar with situations like these because we often have the greatest players in the world.
Fatih Terim is a high-quality and very experienced coach. He has trained so many good teams in the past and I have a good relationship with him. The UEFA Champions League is the most important club competition. I'm very happy to be in it again. We have a incredible squad and are one of the favourites for the title this season. Tomorrow's difficult away game will be a good test for us to gauge what level we are at.

Team news
Xabi Alonso continues to get well from the broken foot sustained in training in August whereas left-backs Marcelo and Fábio Coentrão also miss the trip having suffered thigh injuries on international duty previous week. Central defender Raphaël Varane is yet to show this season following an operation on his right knee in May. Álvaro Arbeloa – who missed out at the weekend with muscular problems – returns to the squad.
